One of our 2 1/2 year old Barred Rock hens is fluffed up, has a bloated belly (not hard though) and is walking like a rodeo bull-rider. We are on the north CA coast so it in generally never below 40 degrees. She is eatting but clearly having a hard time getting around. Rump feathers as dirty but...

It isn't temp. we live on the CA coast and have only about a 20-30 degree swing in a year. They were free range until a year ago. My yard looked more like the area around the Maginot Line, so we gave them a large run. I will say it is in a shady area so there is not many hours of direct sun.

We have 7 hens (4 one year olds and 3 two year olds) who haven't been laying well for months. I have looked (using ideas from this site) for egg eaters, we have looked for pests, we have adjusted feed. we are at a loss. Two are clearly molting now and I know one of the molters hasn't been laying...

Our girl is still by herself, though the aggressors and she feed right next to each other... with a fence between them. I am posting newer photos. We don't know if it was one or all three, a ringleader and two goons, or a primary attacker. They sure are resilient birds, though.

We had a hen introduction go very wrong a month ago, but the youngster is now well recovered and active... except for the top of her head. (She is one of 4 , 12-week old at the time, hens we introduced to 3 ine-year old hens. She got cornnered!)There is no skin covering her scull and no sign yet...
