You can't see it from the pics but on the outside wall under the tin roof there is a 4 inch space that goes the entire length of the coop. It is covered with screen to keep stuff out. The door/ramp closes and latches at night. I also made this with a floating floor, I can slide the floor out for...
I have a few around 3 months old. It sure is hard to get a good picture, quick little fuzzies. So what do you think hen or roo? I'm thinking this one is a roo. I'll try and get some pics of the rest soon.
I have a hen sitting on 5 eggs ready to hatch any day. I found mites on the eggs. I gave a good look at all the hens and saw no more but they are surely in the nesting box with the eggs. How can I keep them under control until the eggs hatch?
This is Tux my mutt Roo I introduced here a few weeks back. When he was little he was all black with a white chest. That is why we named him Tux. It really is amazing how much they change.
Here he was:

There seems to be more here also this winter. I lost my youngest hen last week. The rest of the flock seemed pretty freaked out and did not leave the coop for two days after.

I guess anything is possible. My Silkies as well as my other Bantam hens came out of a bin of mixed bantams from Tractor Supply. Having seen other silkies mine do look a bit different there is no telling what the mix might have been.
I lost a hen last week. Most likely a Hawk. Something scattered my flock I found my Rooster and one hen a block away. Looked and looked but was still two short. One must have had a good hiding place and returned the next day. The youngest hen did not make it. Looks like I need to hatch out some...

Well you can never really tell I guess but I only have two black hens and they are Silkies. Why else would he have black skin and 5 toes? Here are the parents I think anyway.
Here are my Millie friends Jerry my roo and a couple of his girls. I had 4 hens but two vanished the day after Christmas. I found my roo and one hen a block away but two still gone we looked all over. The next day one came home but we lost one.
My Mutt Rooster his father is a Millie and his mother is a Black Silkie. He has some of each in him for sure. Five toes and Black skin like his Mother and giant feathered feet and vulture hawks like his dad
