First ever baby hatched out of my own stock dad was the boy in my avatar, can't wait to see what color he/she will be
mom is the girl in the background in this picture.
Looks like the baby is out... But I found this. It looks like it still had a lot of veins to absorb? Will it be ok? Momma is hiding the chick pretty well so I haven't actually seen it yet.
Hi all,
Just did a quick candle while my broody was off the nest for a few minutes Turns out one has internally pipped. I thought they weren't due to hatch until Thursday but turns out I was wrong. I have her in with my 2 other Seramas, my male and another pullet. Should I move her or leave her...
I will be taking some English Orps to a show next month, and have some questions. First off, on the entry form, do you put "Breed:Orpington, Variety: AOV-Chocolate? That's what I put, this is my first time entering a bird AOV so I'm not really sure how it works.. Also, what have people found to...
Well, just tossed the last 3 remaining eggs in my incubator. All quit except for 2 on day 7. Not sure what happened. I gave the remaining two to my broody since there's no point in leaving the incubator running for 1 egg, but should the need arise I'll power it up again.
Well did a quick candle again tonight. ALL quit except for two one which I put under my broody just a little bit ago. What could've happened? I saw movement in 4 on day 5 (Sunday) and then I pulled the one from my broody and put it in my incubator because she quit for a night and then started...
I highly recommend reading some articles on common poultry diseases. What is happening to your roos sounds like coccidiosis, but it could very well be something else. I found this site very helpful:

Hi all,
I have a big dilemma. My broody hen who has been sitting for about 5 days t quit on me tonight. She was only sitting on 2 eggs, and 1 wasn't developing. So, I have one egg that is developing from her that is about 5 days old. I threw it in my incubator where I have 5more eggs set 8 days...
Hi all,
I'm dealing with my first broody. She's been sitting for about 3 days now so I know she's not quitting. Yesterday I tried to mark the eggs she's sitting on (they are fertile) however she attacked me when I tried to grab one (it was at night too, the only light was a flashlight). What's...
How beautiful!

Thank you! Spartan is the dad of all the chicks (recently won reserve single comb clean legged) at the last show I took him too, so I hope his chicks are just as nice.
Family photo tonight of Spartan, Ash and my girl Rain who is now a very determined broody. I should have plenty of Serama chicks running around by the end of this month, lol.
Yes, but that is not a major fault, not having enough points on the comb. Notice how he has 1 point on the comb wich splits into 2? I'm not sure how big of a point deduction that is, but it's not desirable.
I just candled my Serama eggs (day 5) from my own flock. 4 developing good, looks like 1 quitter at day 3 and 2 blood rings. I'm still very pleased though, considering some of the eggs set were 2 weeks old, as it took my 2 hens 2 weeks to lay 7 eggs.
I LOVE his coloring!!! We would need pictures of him standing on a flat surface to be able to really tell if he is SQ, but the only fault I can really see right now is his comb.
Yes, if you could post better pictures and more recent pictures of him we could definitely give you an idea as to how he'd confirmation wise. He sure is handsome though!
