    No crow collar

I have salmon Faverolle chickens, one rooster and five hens. My roosters crowing is about to do me in. I can't deal with the lack of sleep any longer. So to save him from going into the pot, I thought I would make a no crow collar for him. I used 2" industrial velcro, and I attached a sock to...

Drying new born chicks in a cooler incubator

I borrowed an incubator from a friend which she made from a cooler. It doesn't appear that she put air holes in it. Hatch day is supposed to be in two days, so I was wondering if it will be ok to let the chicks stay in there for a day to dry. Will they have enough air? I have opened the bater to...

    Help!

My 1 1/2 year old aracana has been broody for 3 or 4 weeks. ( I assume she's broody because she wants to sit eggs all day long. Should I separate her or just wait it out? I have no rooster so she can't hatch any chicks. What would you do? Thanks!

How do you get your girls to drink out of a nipple?

My hubby just made me a nipple style waterer for my chickens. I have tapped on the nipples to show them how to drink but I don't think they are getting the hang of it. A couple,of chickens tried while I was tapping on the nipple, but they are acting thirsty. What do y'all recommend?

The first one couldn't even hold its contents and the one I found today did hold the contents but it was very soft. When I picked it up a hole ripped in the side. What...

My new chicks are scared of a stick!

Our new chicks are about a week old. We keep them in the house in a dog crate with a heat lamp. I got the bright idea today to put a stick in there for them to roost on. They were deathly afraid of it! I don't know if it's because they are too young or what, but I took it out and I guess we will...
