Hi, all,
I used to keep chickens in northern Florida- Heritage Roadies. Now I live on the northern plains at the edge of the Rockies. The cold seemed like a big challenge just to keep chickens alive through the winter unless they were housed in a big expensive insulated coop. Re-education: They...
Lovemybirdpets,
I thought it was a shamo, too. Glad someone else said it first. Is that the rooster that killed the hawk? If so, he not only looks tough but really is!
I would be happy to locate any breeder of Ko- Shamo in the southeast within a day's driving distance of the Gulf. Or good shamos. I really like the looks of this breed.
I just found out they came shrink sized. This is a breed I admire but thought impossible to own in my tiny and peaceable RIR flock. I think the bantams could work but cannot find any more information on them other than they exist. I hope your thread gets some replies from other Shamo owners...

I live on the gulf coast with high heat and humidity. Preventing flies and animal odor is vitally important to me since I live in a suburban neighborhood with an HOA not friendly to the idea of chickens reducing property values and neighbors with zero tolerance for flies and odors.
I have...
First Crow this morning at 6:00 am when I put him on the porch in his day pen (Tuesday, July 10). Whisked back inside to his bedtime cage for the day. Can't deal with it until tomorrow when I'm home all day. Isn't this a bit precocious? Are the rest of your boys crowing?

Someone found her! Turns out she is a little easter egger hen and not a faverolle or an americauna. She is a little charmer named Betty. Now I just have to find her owner, Kristin, to get permission to use the photo for a painting. The avatar was not included in the forwarded article and so...
THAT'S HER!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!!
Sorry for shouting. That is the sweet and funny little hen I was searching for. So, she is an easter egger and not a faverolle or an americauna. Now that I have captured the picture how do I locate Kristin, her owner, to get permission to...
There was a close up photo of a light brown hen with her head cocked to the side looking straight into the camera lens shortly after I joined BYC- likely March or April. She had such a funny expression and a sweet face. It was a complete "Awww, Gee!" I did not know the different breeds then...
I do not see anything following the title "Here is a list of the most recent chicken pictures of the week". the post is blank after that.
I am still searching for the head shot of the little light brown hen with tufts who was looking straight into the camera lens. I thought she was an...
Fabio is up in my Pastel chickens album. His face was very dark- looked black in the original photo. I changed it to reflect what I saw in the second photo you sent of his eye.
