    Built Purina hen house!

I was looking at that plan. Still trying to decide if we should attempt to make one with our limited carpentry experience or if we should just buy one.

    5 questions.

Good questions. I'm also a new chicken mom, so I'm trying to learn a lot. Is the sand mentioned the same type that is used in making concrete?

Looks good! I'm not too handy, so I'm trying to figure out if I should even attempt to build our coop or just buy one.

The height of the a-frame was a concern of mine. A stool would help, I'm sure. Thanks for giving me your opinion of the coop!

    Lid on Brooder

I ended up using some 1x2 that were leftover from a project that was completed ages ago. The boards have a nice weathered look...yeah, that's it...a weathered look, lol! Just a basic screen with some hardware cloth that I had. It keeps the new chicks who found their wing feathers safely...

    Autodoor

I'm still trying to figure out a plan for our coop. I thought we were just going to get a pre-fab model, but now we are thinking about building. Have to decide soon since the chicks downstairs are growing lots everyday. I'm considering having an automatic door for the coop. I'm not yet...

Is it like the coarse grain sand used in making concrete?

    inexpensive coop & run

I understand what you mean when you say it quickly changed from "no big deal" to a time consuming hobby. Our chicks are still in the brooder, but I'm trying to figure out what type of coop we want and learning all I can about chicken care. It does seem like it will be a rewarding, long-term...

Hawkeye95 ~ Did you have any problems getting your flooring to stick to the wall? I'm thinking of doing the same thing around our roost. Thanks!

    My New Coop!

Great coop and it is even my favorite color! I wonder if the neighbors would complain if I make our new coop with splashes of color. something to think about.

    Lid on Brooder

Our first chicks have learned to spread their wings. When I went downstairs to check on them this morning in the brooders, I found one of our cochin bantams roosting on the edge of the tub, lol. I decided it was past time to make a screen for the top of each tub. Looking back now, I should...
