    Light for winter eggs?

Someone told me that I should put a light in their coop if I want to continue to having the same amount of eggs thoughout the winter. If so do I leave it on 24/7? Should I use a heat lamp like the one I used when they were chicks? Thanx! This is my first winter owning chickens

    What color?

Here is a picture of the peafowl that has adopted us. Any idea what type of peafowl he is?? Still not sure where he goes @ night but pretty sure it is somewhere on our property. My husband and I think the reason he sticks around is because we have chickens??

    Sick chick?

I have a young chick who is approx. 12 weeks or so. I put them outside last weekend and keep the heat lamp on during the night to help keep them warm. Today I noticed that one of my white ones feet/legs are a slight greenish color. Is she sick? No one else seems to have this problem?

    Would a rooster help?

So I haven't had any eggs in 8 days. Could it be because I got them from someone that had 5 roosters to 30 hens? Someone told me that if my hens wouldn't lay that I may need a rooster? Is there any truth to this? I know many people who don't own a rooster and their hens have no trouble...
