This is Owlie. I had no idea what she was when i picked her out of the bin, but she looked like a lil owl to me and has always been one of my favorites. Of course now I know she's an Arecauna (sp) and she lays beautiful green eggs, What a surprise!!!

Noooooooo I leave her alone and let her do her thing, she knows better than me what she needs to be doing. I'm happy that shes a calm chicken and isnt aggressive when i come around. She allows me to lift her a lil so i can peek. Such an exciting time!
Try to be patient. I was expecting chicks on Friday and was a lil discouraged but got a suprise this morning. by this evening had 3 baby chicks. She had 9 to begin with hopefully all will be well the rest.. Remember patience is a virtue

I have a broody girl whos sitting on 9 eggs. I've read the advice about moving them to their own quarters. I'm wondering if its also ok to wait until the eggs have hatched and then move mamma and babies to a different area?
Not a problem... We start it late fall through winter... the first warm day in April we empty... You might want to use a mask when you empty your coop. : )
