I am sorry about my brag but I have been so stressed out about hatching that this was next to impossible for me.
Many times, I bought expensive eggs off of eBay and on here only to have one or two hatch.
I moved to dry incubation and did not get one show girl egg to hatch. Very disappointed...
Well, I have changed from my LG to a Hovabator and purchased some show girl eggs that came in the mail today and are settling. I really want these to hatch. I have read and reread different threads about humidity, etc so I am hopeful that this time I might get more than just one chick. :)...
Can I be added to the list. I currently live in Brooksville, Florida - Hernando County and have been a Floridian all my life! :)
I've been around the site for a few months but am very excited to see some local talk, some things just vary by location, like humidity!
Hi everyone and thank you!
Must go to good home, make an offer!
Beautiful 4 week old silkie chicks.
Let me know if you are interested, picture is of actual chicks.
$5.00/chick
Also I have two buff and one lavender orpington!
Adorable little babies, 4-5 days old.
Local pick up only, thank you!
Brooksville, Florida
Well, somehow there was one... not sure what happened with the others, they were rocking and rolling and never even pipped, it is so heartbreatking. I don't know what I did wrong.
Somehow this little one made it out... my lonley Buckeye chick.
So incubator one 1/16 = not even a 1% hatch rate...
Got 14 eggs to day 18 with no problem. Temp stayed constant. Humidity was 45-50% in my little giant.
First hatch I did I had humidity at 60% but was told to lower it. First hatch 9 hatched. 80% humidity in lockdown.
So this time I entered lockdown with moving chicks. Humidity has been...
I have eggs hatching this weekend so I live on here lol
Hopefully some others will jump in too for even more tips but I remember laughing so hard when they were eating the mash, they were going crazy over it and of course the little one had to see what all the fuss was about.
We lost that...
Yes. I had one of them open during the incubation process with no problems. Upon entering lock down, I candled for the last time, added the tuna can and washcloth, got humidity up to 70% and closed the hole. This is Florida, humidity isn't even 60% outside lol
I just can not get it to go...
I am no expert but I know they absorb the yolk so that they do not need to eat for 24+ hours.
My first hatch came out, fluffed up and I moved them to the brooder. They all did seem to start showing interest in it expect one. I did water down the feed to make it a mash for the benefits of the...
Good morning everyone!
I am on lock down for only the second time.
I am using one of the foam incubators and have no problems so far.
Temp has been set and maintained with no significant drops or spikes.
Humidity has been from 45-50% the entire period.
Yesterday, I entered lock down.
I...
22 out of 31 first off is a victory in my book!
When I hatched last time, it was my first, wow a way to learn a lot.... fast.
When the first one hatched, I knew at least that I had done something right, I mean, one chick made it... then came the others.
It is so stressful but worth it in...
Oh my goodness, I would have been so freaked out if I saw empty shell and no chick, it would have been an all hands on deck type of search lol ... glad everything worked out!
That is very exciting. I never knew they would be so loud from inside a shell! I had to keep running back and checking on them and my husband was very close to duct taping me to the chair!
Once they pip it could still take 12-24 hours to get all the way zipped and out, patience is key lol...
I hope for the best for you but I myself did not have good luck when I helped my last two littles out of the shells. The one seemed very vibrant and healthy but did not make it, who knows what kind of problems he had I guess, I thought he was just shrink wrapped due to perhaps too high of...
So exciting, my first incubator is entering lock down today! I've candled and so far all my silkie, cochin and polish eggs look good. I can not see those silly Buckeyes though, very dark. Perhaps my DH will allow me to buy a better flashlight for candling if I promise to never do two incubators...
