Problem and seeking solution!
My chickens are losing an abnormal amount of feathers on their back over the tail area and immediately under the tail area. Otherwise all seems fine. Can anyone offer details as to what the problem is...
Any suggestions here? The older flock (11 hens & 1 rooster) are 19 weeks old. The younger flock (11 hens & 1 rooster) are six weeks old. At the present time I have them in adjoining runs . Really need to get them intergrated so they can all be in the same house at night since the weather here...

LOL at the last post. How right you are. I will not live long Ienough to pay just for my run in eggs! But! i enjoy them and that is enough to cover the expense.

I use hay in my chicken coop. I clean it once a week and put down new hay. Works great. I just rake it up when I bush hog and store enough to last until I bush hog pastures again.

OK, just finished my chicken house (coop) and run, The house an old tool shed 12' x 15'. the run is 15' x 20'.
