Hi chicken lovers! I live in the suburbs and am not allowed to own a rooster. I ordered 7 chicks (all female) and this one turned out to be a rooster. He is my most beautiful pet fowl. :( If you're not familiar with this breed, he is white and black with striking markings, and feathers on...
I also have a runt in my little flock. If I start feeding egg to the chicks, do I have to give them grit too? Also does anyone know if it's OK to give the chicks a little dried spices. Like parsley, catnip, oregano, etc.
I live in Kentucky. Our weather is all over the place. :) But they will definitely be let out every day for as long as possible. I'm always here to keep an eye on them and they will be about 20feet from the back door of my house.
Bulldogma built one....

This is a nice one!
The trailer i'm looking at is smaller than this one. I just want my chicks to be comfy and safe. :)
I would build a large run at one end of the trailer. And be sure to put hardware cloth over all windows. There is partial shade most of the day too. I think the chicks might like it. :)
I've been thinking about using a metal horse trailer for a coop. Anyone have any ideas about whether this is a good idea or not? Would ventilation be a problem?
