    Hopeless!!!!!

I had chickens for a year and a half, then gave them up because I got tired of driving 15 mins to the farm every day to feed them. BUT.... spring fever has bitten me hard and I am expecting 5 babies in the mail tomorrow and I just put 18 eggs in the incubator!!!! So sigh... I am hopeless.

    Trauma Drama

I am really bummed. In my flock I have two beautiful bbs orp roosters that are blue and gorgeous. One of them is also exceptionally sweet and docil. They are just now maturing and 'coming of age,' and I am really saddened on what that has meant. One of the roosters, the bigger, not as...

I am so bummed. My sister went out to the farm the other day to see the chickens and left the gate to the pen unlatched. That night something got in and got some of my birds - Miss Prissy's blue orp and a light sussex. I am so bummed. They had to get my favorites too, they couldn't have just...

Turkey hen left her eggs today just when they are about to hatch

This morning I noticed my turkey hen was not on her nest. I felt the eggs and they were all cold. I have been waiting for a couple of days on her eggs to hatch and was really disappointed to find that she had apparently given up. I took all the eggs home and candled them, and found that two...

Chick with one set of wing feathers sticking out to side

I have one newly hatched chick that has her wing feathers on one side sticking out away from her body rather than being tucked in close. Has anyone else ever seen that? Is it going to be a problem? Or will it resolve itself? Thanks!

    Frustrated with Ebay

I think I am over ebay eggs and chicks. One seller just sold me some chicks off one site, they were advertised as newly hatched, etc, and when I got them, four of six were at least four weeks old, and the other two were about two weeks old. Clearly not the same hatch, and what is worse, they...

I could put just one roo in, but then I don't knwo what to do...

    Egg eating

Yesterday I went to collect eggs and noticed on of the hens on the nest eating a broken egg in front of her. I don't know if she broke the egg or not, but she was definitely eating it, now that it was broken. I quickly cleaned it up and refreshed the nest, placing her on another nest. Is...
