I have a small flock of Swedish Flower Hens. These are directly from Greenfire line and are not crested. I have 2 Roosters of 3 Hens so fertilitly is very good. I have hatched out 2 batches and everything is looking good so far. If these don't go I will set them as well. If these do sell, more...
I hatched a handful of the SFH last year. Ended up with 2 roosters and they both are awesome to look at. Can't wait until the eggs start coming in. They have become my favorite breed.
I would just do the edges. The stuff will lay flat on its own. Unless it has a buckle in it. You can use staples or even caulk. It doesn't take much to hold it.
I had 3 plastic totes. One had a pair that was doing pretty good. I had another tote with 3 roos. The 3rd tote had 1 roo and 4 hens. One of the roos in the roo tote was calling his little heart out. Finally a hen started responding to his call. Put those 2 toghether, and now they are happy. Got...
I hatched out some buttons and can easily sex most. Some are blue breasted. This one I am not so sure. It has a black line "bib" (i think that is what it is called). It has no red on the butt. I was trying to have them paired off. I saw this one being aggressive toward a roo. Is that normal for...
Just curious, how many chickens do you have all together? If you have a bunch it could be the other chickens. I have had chickens cleaned out from the tail end. I first thought some critter did it but after the second time I caught them in action. They are cannibals and won't hesitate to pick on...
A majority of the time it is on the lathe. Once you get it down you can do them fairly quick. The irregular bowls are fun but if you don't have the tools, it means alot of labor.
I would look for anything that won't be shipped unless you are willing to get shipped express. I got a thermometer in the mail yesterday and out of the box it read 118. I had 2 different orders (60 total) of Coturnix eggs in early June that ended up doing nothing due to the heat.
The lathe is the easiest and most widely used method. You can carve out a irregular bowl without a lathe. Alot more work this way but it is a different look. It is all in what you want to make or how you want it to look.
