    Eglu Coop

Any idea of the sturdiness of these? How is the space, do you use wood chips and/or hay? How easily will they go to a new home? (They are presently in a wooden coop, 3 hens, no roosters)

    First time in coop

We are going to put our hens (5) in the coop for the first time next weekend, they will be 6-7 weeks. The coop has an enclosed run. Do we still want to keep them "locked" in the coop only portion (no run) for that 1st week to train them where "home" is? And therefore we must put the food and...

    Chicken/human interaction

Our hens are about 4-6 weeks old, growing fast. For the past 3 weeks we have created a temporary run outside and bring them out one by one for several hours of outside time. They seem to love it, however they do not like us picking them up to bring them there. They run from us, not wanting us...

    Exhausted Chicks

We have about 2-3 week olds. We gave them their first day of play outside, about 4 hours in a little run. Then we put them back in their brooder. Then we had a surprise visit from my sister with her 2 kids. Of course they wanted to "play" with the baby chicks. After another 1-2 hours of...

    Figuring the sex of chicks

When will it become totally obvious if we have a rooster? They were purchased sexed, but 1 seems different in looks and aggressiveness than the others. Any clues of what to look for will help greatly. They are only about 3 weeks old.

    Jumping Chicks

Question, is it normal for 2 week old or any age for that matter chick to try to jump out of the brooder? Or does this mean they are too confined or not happy in any way?

    Coop delay

We are new at raising chicks. We made the mistake of ordering a coop, believing our confirmation, getting the chicks and then getting notice that the coop is backordered. Probably 4 weeks delayed. Is this as big a disaster as I think?
