How long do hens store sperm? I have two breeds that run together and would like to isolate one of the roosters with a few hens for purebred hatching eggs.
Thanks
Um... Did I do something wrong? Why the cut and paste of the sticky? I provided the info I have and am just looking for suggestions as to what may be wrong from the more experienced people on this forum.
I noticed one of my hens, a 10 month old Americauna, was not roosting last night. This morning she got up, but was moving very slowly and she has a large amount of poop stuck to her butt. Any ideas what is wrong with her?
Thanks
Jennifer
I finally found good instructions for splinting the leg. We will see if it works.

(Sorry, I can't provide a picture because I have already applied the band aid.)
I have some ameraucana chicks that are 1 week old. They all looked fine yesterday, but today one is unable to use its right leg. The leg is just splayed out behind the chick. The chick can still hop around on its other leg, but I don't know what is wrong and I don't know what I should do...
I only have one incubator and I have two shipments of eggs coming tomorrow, a third shipment will be delayed at least a week because his hens are not cooperating. Has anyone hatched eggs with multiple hatch dates in the same incubator? If so, any advice.
Six chicks and three pips. This hatch is going so well compared to my first (and these eggs were shipped)! I am not scared of shipped eggs anymore.
Congrats to everyone else with successful hatches!!
I've got one chick and one egg that has pipped!!
I hate the way they lay there like they are dead after they hatch. I am pretty sure that I can see breathing.
