That is such a bummer!! I'm in San Francisco and I'm really surprised that its OK (for now!) to have chickens...I'm just waiting until spring after the rains are gone. Write to those city officials in Stockton and ask them to re-consider!!

Ha Ha! That's how it worked when we finally got the dog! My husband likes our Boston Terrier now! He's skeptical about chickens, but I'm pretty sure he'll like the fresh eggs once he tries them.
I'm in the Sunset at 23rd and Lawton, so pretty close to GGP, and I often see hawks on...
Oh Man, I'm ready! That's great...I really was worried about leaving them if we go out of town. I definitely have neighbors who can check, and I'll buy those big feeders/waterers. Now I just need chickens!! Oh yeah, and I still need to convince my husband that this will be FUN! Thanks...

Thank you! I'm glad to hear of more chicken owners here in the city! Where did you buy your chicks? I was thinking that the raccoons will be a problem....they are all over the Sunset where I live! I was planning on building a longer run attached to the coop with the wire netting...
Wow! I love all these ideas! We like camping too, and I think the idea about flyers for teens is a good one. Maybe I'll post something at our local high school once school starts. I really want chickens but I'm just making sure these little details are clear before I get my girlies!
Thank you everybody for all of the advice! I have neighbors who would check on the birds, just not sure if they would be interested in feeding and watering everyday (although you are right...who could pass up fresh eggs??). I really appreciate the help, and I'm looking forward to getting chickens!
Hi, I'm still learning and planning a coop...no chickens yet. I live in San Francisco and I'm planning on getting 3 hens in the near future.
One question that keeps holding me back from chicken ownership: what do you do when you go away on a long weekend or a vacation? Can you leave more...
I'm in San Francisco, new to chickens, and having fun with coop ideas at this point. My daughters (ages 7 & 9) and I are excited about getting some chickens...I would love to meet up with some other city chicken lovers to learn more...
I'm a newbie to chickens in San Francisco...any chickenstock meetings in SF or Sac? I'm going to the State Fair this weekend to check out the chickens!!
