I'm up to my eyeballs in cuckoo chicks!
Every single one of those eggs developed. I've set quite a few dozen shipped eggs, and I've never seen anything like this. Had a few that didn't make it out of lockdown, but I'm not at all unhappy with my hatch rate. Super hardy embryos.
Thanks...
Heaven help me, I'm getting ready to set more eggs. I have a problem. I just can't stop.
Question for the incubation gurus. I'm using a new digital thermostat to control temps, and it doesn't allow tinkering with tenths of a degree like my old one did. I prefer 99.5 on the dot. This one...
Same issue. Clicked link, got the "don't qualify" message. I don't click links from emails often and usually disregard emails like that one, but when I do I don't appreciate having my time wasted.
Try Big Sky feeds. There are others I'm sure, but I've had experience with those folks and it's good feed. Pricey though.
Anyone looking for turkey poults? I've got several extra midget whites that are looking for a new farm to call home. Four weeks old, eating game bird starter. Cute...
Got 8 Midget White (turkey) poults for sale. They are 4 weeks old, and have been eating purina gamebird starter. They drink well from a bucket with nipple waterers on it. These are a great small farm or homestead bird. Just have a few more than I need.
They are hatchery birds from Murray...
Sounds really good. We love paleo.
The book is Pastured Poultry Profits. I like Salatin's stuff. Like his videos, too. Whatever it takes to get people thinking about raising their own food, I'm all for, whether I 100% agree with the methods or not.
This book is also good for reference...
Much appreciated advice! I recently hatched some blue barnevelders and came here to see if I could find out why these chicks look black. Now I know I need to sit on my hands and be patient. Thank you.
Yes, it is helping! My first batch of meaties will be showing up in March, and I'm getting ready for them. I love reading others' experiences.
I used sand in my layer brooder last year, and am not sure if I'd use it again. Or at least, not by itself. I purchased 50 pound bags of it from...
If anyone's looking for some blue laced red wyandottes, I have ten straight run week-old babies over here in Stevensville for sale. Started on Big Sky feed's organic layer starter and doing great. Prefer to sell them as a group. Thanks!
Anyone looking for some blue laced red wyandottes? I've got some babies hatched on January 4th. Started on Big Sky Feed's organic layer starter and doing well. Would like to sell a lot of 10 as straight run, and will make sure to include a couple splash. Ended up with way more shipped eggs...
Holy crapoli! Best hatch rate ever from shipped eggs.
You sent me 18. Three started seeping as they came up to room temp. I put 15 into the incubator 24 hours after they arrived.
Guess how many hatched?
That's right, 15!
Several of them are gorgeously light, orange and heather gray...
That sounds SO familiar. I don't miss the passive aggressive phone calls and the snarky backhanded remarks at family holiday get-togethers. Way too old for the high school behavior, and since I only get one go at life I'm not planning on lying on my deathbed wishing I'd spent more time living...
Yup. That's why we haven't spoken in years. She refuses to treat me as a grown woman, and I refuse to continue to be emotionally tortured by the relationship. The last few years, that I cut out the negative people, have been the best of my life.
Do you have a source for that? Everything I'm finding is above 3.5%.

Just wanting to run and refinance if it's true. We bought at 3.4% last year.
Could be the time of year. Short days can turn some does off. None of mine are in the mood lately since I nixed the extra winter light. Ah well, I'll try again in February.
