A couple of our chickens peck at my legs whenever I wear blue jeans. Not when I wear any other kind of pants. I'm not sure if it is the color or the texture, but it is weird.
True, he is a bit of a coward. He's tough until someone stands up to him. I'm just worried, because his buddy got up and was asking questions about who complaints should be directed to, whether the police should be called, etc. I don't think this is over, even though we've won this round...
So sorry, I typed out a whole long update and got pulled away from the computer and I guess it never got sent. The vote didn't happen because amendments were made due to this one man's objections. The vote is now tonight. Here is an article explaining the whole situation...
I've looked through a bunch of threads on the merits of pellets vs. crumbles, and seen some good info on both. My issue is this - our birds don't seem to particularly like the pellets. They'll eat them, but usually not until they've searched the yard for bugs and other things. If there are...
Good ideas, I'll definitely point out that dogs and cats can spread diseases also. And that the precautions for preventing transmittal are basically the same as for preventing salmonella.
To clarify the point about our children walking around barefoot - the photos he's referring to were taken the day our coop was delivered, before the chickens were even allowed outside. Our children do not walk around barefoot in the yard now that the chickens are out there.

Some great ideas, Sally! I hadn't thought about lawn mowers, that's a great one.
The pictures idea is good too, maybe we'll have the kids put together a poster board to display at the meetings.
The neighbors all said they would do whatever we need from them, it's nice to know we have so many...
We are trying to get the ordinance changed in Keyport NJ. We've had chickens since April, and were under the impression that we were allowed to. We know at least 4 other families that have them in town, and were told by a council member that it was ok. Now, we have the Humane Society trying...
