Haven't been on for a couple of months but just had to share some of the new fuzzies that came yesterday afternoon. We have 15 broilers and 5 BBW Poults. Got them home from the Post Office and settled in just in time for a big storm to come roaring through. Some areas within 30 miles of us had...
If you have a truck getting the panels home is easy. Load the panels pushing them to the front of the truck bed then push on the ends that are hanging out until you can close the tailgate. They will form a hoop in the back of the truck and you can haul them anywhere. Easy!
wolftracks,
You can try spraying them with vinegar & a couple drops of dawn dishsoap on a day it is supposed to stay sunny. The dishsoap removes protective oils and then the vinegar kills the plant. This works best somewhere with direct sunlight for 5 or 6 hours. Doesn't always work as well in...
Perchie,
Have you maybe considered electric poultry netting to keep the rats at bay? Maybe use hardware cloth on the ground under it so they can't dig under so easily and then the poultry netting above?
We were supposed to have that last nite and this morning early...but...the newscasters got it wrong...again... We actually got about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. I think the worst part is the wind chills today. We are supposed to hover around -2 today with windchills -20 to -30. By the end of the week...
I ordered from Cackle last year and again this year. I recommend them also. Great service and very nice birds. I was really impressed with the growth rate of the cornish X I got last year. They were straight run an it was pretty close to 50/50. I got a few more hens than cocks but not many...
I live in Iowa and have seen some of their birds. I have never ordered from them though. Mostly because I could get the birds cheaper and in lesser numbers from Cackle. Cackle Hatchery lets you mix the turkeys with LF chickens. So I ordered 3 turkeys from them and added them to my chicken order...
Ruminants have been getting fermented feed for hundreds of years. Silage is a fermented feed and almost all the beef you find in the stores has been fed silage. Most use corn silage or hay silage and I am sure there are others but I can't think of them.
That's why they are trying to ban the woodstoves. Sir up the enviromental groups to ban woodburning and then sneak in the backdoor with gas and oil that has destroyed land and water. They can't sell this gas and oil to us if we are burning wood. I wonder if these idiots have ever stood on a busy...
Oh Kingfrodo I can so empathize with you. The home we bought in 2008 seemed just perfect for us. The inside of the house was kept up as yours was but the land was just let go. We spent 4 weekends 12 to 15 hours a day just cleaning out one huge building. I think we hauled out 4 pickup loads of...
I now know exactly what you need to do for the next storm!!! This is what a friend of mine did yesterday. Said he had to get his mind off of the 4+ inches of snow that was coming. He then said it sort of worked because what snow we got started melting today really fast and then he realized he...
Gotta tell ya the one this morning was nasty. Several hours of rain that froze as it hit the ground. It was followed by about an hour of sleet and then we got about 4 or 5 inches of snow. All that was followed by a rise in temps to about 45 today. We had to whip out our flippers and swim for...
Bee,
You also might check out U-tube for the newspaper pots. It shows you how to fold them to make small or large pots for your plants and then you just plant them in the ground in the pots. The newspaper just decomposes in the ground as the plant grows. I have made several and they work great!
SCG you better get another scheme together. There is another one coming your way. It is supposed to get to us around 1 am. It is supposed to be a fast moving storm but we are supposed to get 1/4 inch of ice in this part of the state and the northeast part is supposed to get 7 1/2 inches or more...
Arielle,
I finally went to firefox some time ago and I have had no trouble since then. I really like it. It might not have all the bells and whistles that MS puts in theirs but it has been very reliable.
