At that age cockeral would be developing saddle feathers . ( sharp feathers that drape over the thighs) males pointy pullets rounded feathers . So all pullets
We do not sell eggs , started birds and adult trios are sold first come first serve , best way to currently reach us is facebook : two fat guys poultry
Greenfire farms just purchased a trio of Lamonas from this line. We are currently hatching chicks . If anyone wants to get in on the ground floor of this pm me.
They are in the census report but you have to look close to see the line, but I nor the other breeder that have them are not registered with them , and the numbers are so low , one good disaster and it will be over . That is why we keep them at 2 locations.
I shipped quite a few this spring , but with the cost of the eggs and poor performance of of hatching after shipping( yes I stand behind them) I credited the cost of eggs towards pairs and trios, so currently I am only selling adults . It will be limited . Currently I have 50 out , planning one...
they are large fowl, ...lol very large that hen is a good 7 lbs + never weight a male , they are a dense bird and are heavier than they look, males 8 to 10lbs , but still culling to the SOP so dont always use they largest males for breeding , concentrating on type
been working on lamonas for a few years , , dont show them much , as I am picky , and they are usually out of condition as I keep them to breed only at this point , but I have a pic from a breeding pen this year taken about 2 weeks ago , I am using a male with slightly longer legs than desired...
yes they all need to be turned, mandarin eggs are 26-28 days , muscovies incubate for 35 days. from your question , I feel you may be a beginner soooo I would not recommend mandarins, as they can be difficult and are not really a duck for a beginner
they were exhibited at the illini show in belvidere last fall. Jeff Halbach was the judge, they were declared Lamonas. and won high awards , dont think they took any champions , but were the buzz of the show
this is true to a point but when you break down the genus they are technically chickens , a better way to lay it out is the wild mallard as an example: it is Genus : anus/cairina species : ana platyrhynchos and the domestic duck which all but the (muscovies) are from is ana platyrhynchos...
Jungle fowl are " chickens" Now maybe there are no pure jungle fowl in the US ....but by its own definition if you take a pure jungle fowl and cross it with a "domestic" chicken u get a bird that is fertile and will reproduce. if you take a horse and a donkey you get a "mule" that usually all...
I had an attack like what everyone is talking about , , I could not find a hole , I was losing birds every night by the dozens, finally I caught a glimps of a mink as he had half pulled a hear of a bird into a hole not much bigger than a walnut. I was amazed that he was able to squeeze through...
I believe you are 100 % correct , and after an out-cross and years of line breeding , you have should have a pure line that breeds true. Sports alway pop up , problem with some is they may believe some production birds (hatchery strains) are pure , True master breeders are people recognized by...
