The white one is Mr. Lily and I had to re-home him. Lily turned into Mr. Lily and I couldn't keep him. He was my baby. He's got a nice home from someone here on backyardchickens. Miss Wobbles is the black one and she is such a sweetie. And the buff one is Delilah, she's sweet and tiny tiny...
Here are puff and ommy girl taking a napTalk to the tail!!!
My son Brad, conure-Junior, Puff and Ommy
Puff and Ommy are our first chickens. My son hatched them and I fell in love. I was opposed to getting chickens when the topic came up but was quickly won over by their amazing personalities...
Should I amputate the toe myself and how? Should I give it more time? I don't know if I could do it but if it will possibly save her, I'd suck it up and do it.
Thanks! Do I put a whole baby aspirin in her water? I don't want to overdose her. She did just try and walk around a bit for the first time since I brought her in. I feel so terrible for her. Our coop is heated but I think she may have stood in some snow for too long that was in their run...
Hi,
I have a sebright hen that got frostbite on her toe and leg. She's been in for 6 days and all she does is sleep. She eats very little and I can't even bribe her with scrambled eggs, oatmeal or any treats. The toe does not appear to be infected. I've been putting neosporin(without the...
Ok,
So We have 3 pet chickens, in the city and I get a call from animal control asking if we were missing a chicken cause we are the only ones around here that have chickens......no all of ours are here........so I offer to go take a look at the chicken(right down the street from me) and it is...
Thanks. I think you're probably right. I may not be pushing it in far enough. I'm so afraid of hurting her. I'm going to keep trying. She acts just fine. A happy little chicken. Anyone have any ideas on the dead tissue. Do you think it will fall off eventually?
I have a japanese bantam with a prolapsed vent. I found her saturday evening when I was checking on my girls. She had an egg stuck to her and was bleeding. I managed to get the egg off without it breaking but I cant get the vent to stay in. How long can this take? I've been giving her warm...
I thought I'd try it after seeing everyone else that had but it just didn't work for Delilah. She isn't having any of it! But there are some people that use them successfully with their chickens.
She just started laying eggs so I'm pretty sure she's a girl. Thank goodness!!!She's not as fluffy as other silkies and she's missing her fifth toes, her pouf isnt very poufy but she fits right in with us. She's perfect to us!!She's spoiled rotten and she knows it too. LOL Now that she knows...
She did look at me kinda funny this morning. lol Maybe she hasn't forgotten. In that case it's a good thing I'm going to work. Although, that does give her more time to plan her revenge.
My poor hubby would be all excited when he saw the new thongs only to find out they are going on a chicken. Not sure I'll try it though. Delilah was looking a bit scary today. Fortunately she seems to have forgotten about it.
:)She won the battle for today! She gets anything she wants and she knows it too! LOL Oh and it was a real growl, she did it several times and I couldn't stop laughing it was so strange.
I have one very upset chicken here. To make a long story short. She had 2 other sisters that turned into brothers and have been rehomed. We got 2 japanese bantams for friends but they stick with each other sooooo Delilah comes in with us every so often. This is her first day with a diaper and...
She doesn't have much of a comb at all. Mostly flat. She's not show quality. She only has four toes not five and a tiny little pouf on her head. She seems fine but I worry about her not eating enough. I've been separating her some of the time to give her extra food and treats now. She's my...
Hi,
I have a 7 month old silkie and she's never been plump but her breast bone is very prominent when you feel it. She doesn't appear skinny because of her feathers but it doesn't seem normal.
She is acting fine.
Her poop is normal.
She is fed layer pellets among other treats scrambled egg...
I'm so glad I found this thread. I just went to check on my polish hen and her feathers are coming out by the ton. At first I thought she was sick when I saw all the feathers but then realized she hasn't gone through a molt yet that I noticed. She's about 19 mos. old so I think the timing is...
I just got these two a couple weeks ago from a woman that had over 40 of them and needed to find homes for all of them. I got them so my silkie would have some friends. All her sisters turned into brothers and we had to rehome them.
It doesn't bother me so much but don't they know we've heard it before a million times.
My son on the other hand gets very offfended. He's stopped eating chicken completely and I'm the bad one when I serve it.
Although, he knows I'd never eat our pets.
