I am so sorry you have to deal with this frustrating issue I have had a similar situation (the leg was twisted outward) and a brace did not work. I tried to gently work the leg into the proper position when the chick was newly hatched. The leg seemed to be twisted at the knee and could not be...
I found out another interesting thing that has helped with my hatches I thought about how the hens sit on the eggs. this causes some weight as well as darkness. I started putting a hand towel over the eggs. I put the thermometer wire under the towel (by the eggs but not touching them) and the...
These little birds are so darn cute...I just love them! I do, however, have one complaint...They always have perfect stance...until I get the camera!Any ideas...
Do the silkies seem to be smaller than the regular smooth seramas? All of my silkies are A class or Micros. I have a full grown hen hat weighs in at about 6 ounces and lays eggs.
I tried to use a flat thermometer on the eggs my first time hatching...It did not have accurate temps of the air. I switched to a digital indoor/outdoor one. I put the little sensor(at the end of the long wire) in the middle of the incubator on the floor. I put the other part on top of the...
I am up for this! My eggs will be Seramas. I hope to have about 2 dozen eggs to put in my home-made incubator. Whoo-hooI can't wait to see how many chicks this hatch-a-long has!
I am so happy today!I went out to check my Serama babies and they are old enough to sex. The little roos have started to get red combs.I had two clutches. My first clutch of six had only one roo. The second clutch has three roos out of 16. I am averaging 81% - 83% hens! I am so excited.
I also have a small chick that weighs 1.5 oz at 3 weeks. It is a little cockerel. It is frizzled too! Except for one little pullet (she weighed 1.20 oz at 3 weeks) he is my smallest out of 2 clutches totaling 20 chicks. I have a growth chart I have kept of all my chicks (weighed weekly) that I...
I live in Oregon and just love birds and chickens. Right now I have Serama chickens (in addition to cockatiels, budgies, and pigeons). I love raising chickens!! I am so glad I found this site!
I have hatched 2 clutches from Laura. I have a total of 20 chicks (8 were hatched Halloween night 2012 and 12 were hatched early morning new years day 2013) The names on my eggs were Eli, Sebastian, Frederick, Nico, Booted, Gino, and Voltron. here are a few pictures.

I hatched my first Seramas Oct. 31 2012. I have tried to find the same information you are looking for. I could not find it anywhere. I started keeping track of my babies weights from hatch date and then every week after (I have had two clutches so far). I do not know if mine are normal wieght...
