    I usually just use the basket to collect eggs. I transfer them to cartons if they are going to be sold. I have a small fridge where I store the extra eggs that I sell. I do bring the basket to the house when we need eggs. I figure my family should always have the freshest ones :)

    Hi QuailSong, I am also in Eastern Ontario. You could try Ritchies Feed and Seed. I get egg cartons from them at $75 for 200. They do not stock them though. You have to order them and it may take several weeks for them to be delivered. It takes forever to use them up, but at least they look good.

    Salut Bentech, I am just up the road in Ottawa. I have kept chickens through a very cold winter. I had two waterers: one was in the coop, the other was in the house thawing. I would suggest either a heater or a couple of water tubs that can be emptied of ice easily.
