Young chicken pecked on top of head!

Thank you. My girl seems to be ok. She is eating and drinking. I have added her "sister" in with her because she was hiding. I think they started picking on her. I guess they older ones don't like the breed.

Young chicken pecked on top of head!

First, I have had chickens for about 5 years and this is the first year I've had problems getting the older ones used to the new, little ones (12 weeks old). I have been noticing they were picking on one in particular. It is one of the littlest. Yesterday, I found her trapped by the older...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Has anyone had trouble with mold? I've been feeding FF to my chicks (now 6wks) for at least 2 weeks and they love it. But now I noticed mold on the sides of the bucket. Should I throw it away and start over? I hate to do that but I don't want my chicks to get sick.

    pine shavings or sand

Chickens are new to me. I went to Tractor Supply for most of my supplies and one on the things I bought was a bale of pine shavings. I bought the yellow bale. Why should I have bought the white one instead? I just received the chicks this morning so I haven't opened the shavings yet.

The Natural Chicken Keeping thread - OTs welcome!

I saw somewhere that it showed you how to make your own apple cider vinegar. It didn't look too hard but took quite awhile. I'm just about to get chicks for the first time ever and I'm very interested in natural treatment and preventive ways.
