    Pecking order?

So I had a hen go broody and let her hatch the chick in the nesting box and moved her and her baby somewhere else, that was 5 weeks ago, I just put her and her baby back in the coop with the others and I'm not seeing much more than warning pecks to the chick. I've heard horror stories (and seen...

    Naturally folded over comb?

I got a supposed barred rock from a breeder but it isn't a barred rock, she's about 6 months, laying brown large eggs, I just don't know what breed or breed mix she is. Her comb is naturally folded over, she is very healthy and its bright red, but has been flipped over for months.

    Did I break the broody?

I have a bantam hen who went broody, (at least I think she did, she laid on the nest all day to day) over one egg and I placed three of her other eggs under her after I found her sitting on one and she herded them under her, about an hour ago we moved her to put more nesting material in her...

Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

She's laying in the grass outside, occasionally getting up and running around/eating, her "sister" circles her protectively when she lays down.

Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I have her wrapped in a blanket, chilling with me on the sofa, she seems ok, I hope she passes this soon, it might be a soft egg, it keeps changing shape

Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I've been soaking her, doesn't seem to be helping, the egg seems misshapen. Im really worried because this is her first ever egg, will she not want to lay ever again after this ordeal?

Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

5/6 of my chickens are bantams and she is friendly with all except one of the Roos, would that be stressful? The only non bantam is her adopted sister, a jersey giant, and they are very close

Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I just gave her some oyster shells. She should have had enough but I gave her choice of it anyway, the egg feels hard and is yo-yoing between near her vent and near her ribs, I will also mention that she is very skittish with me and the other hens.

Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Sorry to post this here but this is really active so... I'm sorry... My bantam austrolorp (however you spell that) has an egg that she's had ready to lay since yesterday and still won't ( noticed it during a routine mite/vent check) is she egg bound? Should I massage it out? Should I soak her...

    egg question

Can I keep the egg my bantam just laid warm until she goes broody? My mum really wants to let a hen hatch it but we only have gotten two eggs so far and we ate the first one. What should I do? Can I force a hem to go broody? (we don't have an incubator or a broody hen)

    Chicken's preening each other

One of my roos actually started preening my hair the other day XD I felt like part of the flock. He's a mama's boy any way. While I'm here... Who else has hens and roos that will lay like babies in your arms/laps?

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Just got my first egg yesterday. I started raising chickens a year ago, got lucky, and all four chicks I bought were hens, fast forward 5 fantastic months filled with joy. Something ripped open my coop and killed all four with nothing left behind but feathers, lots and lots of feathers. A long...

One of my pullets died and another is lethargic and dehydrated what to do (other than the obvious g

One of my month and a half old barred rock pullets died, seemingly of blood loss (I discovered it not 30 minutes ago and haven't had the heart yet to look) and one of its "sisters" laid by the body and apparently hadn't drank or ate the entire night after. The three barred rocks I have in there...
