Thank you and it does seem to fit. I keep the coop and water clean. I wonder if there is a cure or if there is anything I can do to prevent further spread of this.
Help! I have a hen who is standing off to herself, she is lethargic and holds her neck down in her body. She is not very interested in eating. I had a hen last week with the same symptoms, I wormed them and gave them antibiotics. She died, so I'm worried this is something infectious. Should I...
Hi to all my fellow Okies on BYC! I haven't been on here in a while. I've been busy getting the new house put together and getting the garden and flower beds ready for Spring. I have a hen that has sounded "croupy" for several weeks now. I have put antibiotics in their water, that didn't...
Got the new coop in the pen. I think I hear them singing "We're moving on up..."

New coop:
Now I'm looking for more hens.
Took these on my morning walk before the rain last week.

Anyone close to Dibble have some young laying hens?
I've searched all over and still can't find a good answer. What kind of litter should I use in my new coop? Anybody know about Cinnamon Queen hens? I always get the best advice here at Okies in BYC.
My new coop! He built it in his shop and he's gonna move it this weekend out to the pen. He's gonna put the nesting boxes against the walls just inside the door way. I can't wait to get more hens!
I haven't been on in a while. I love to see all the pictures you've posted, beautiful chicks, flowers and gardens. I recently nursed one of hens back to health who had gone broody and got overheated.
So good news there. But I lost a different hen Monday. Not sure why, her breathing was...
My broody hen isn't broody anymore, but now she has trouble walking and staying balanced. There are no apparent leg injuries. I looked at her feet, but don't know if they are swollen. She's moving around some, albeit clumsily. I put some antibiotics in their water. BTW, how long can I leave...
Thanks rinda, that's what I've been doing and I've opened up the coop really well so the air is flowing really well. I have a wire cage I'll put her in if that doesn't do it. I would love to have chicks, but hubby says no more chickens. I'm gonna keep working on him.
Just in case I change my...
Thanks lonnyandrinda I'm considering doing that if I can't find another way that doesn't involve separating her and using a fan, since I don't have a realistic way to do this. I'm sure there are other methods even if they take longer or are a little less effective.
I'm confused about the information I'm finding on broody hens. I've got one that's been like that for about a week. I just keep going out there and shooing her out of the nesting box. Is there something simple I can do? How long will this last? I don't want chicks right now and I'm worried...
Thank you so much bardies, I will try my oyster shell in a separate dish, I tried it before and it didn't seem like they wanted it. However, I have some new hens that might eat it. I believe it is one of them that has thin shells.
I love this site! Everyone is so helpful. Not quite sure how to...
I've been finding eggshells (one was empty, the other had some of the contents still in it). The eggshells were kind of thin or soft. I'm not sure if I have a chicken eating them or if they are just breaking when they lay them. These recent eggs had a hole knocked in them or half the shell...
