5 day old ducks seem starved to death

Try scrambled eggs -------- duckies love them...... we use all our pullet eggs that we don't eat ourselves to feed the baby ducks ................ they are so so on the chick starter crumbles but watch out when I put down a plate of scrambled eggs - just use a bit of milk for moisture and do in...

They've pipped! ?'s about Hovabator Genesis humidty

I am in the same position with a 1588 genesis on day 27. I have 15 pekins and 22 Khaki Campbells starting to hatch. My Humidity is also at 75% which should be lots for a succesful hatch. I did a similar hatch last month and all turned out well. Best advice is #1 do not open the bator during...

Which ducks lay the best eggs?

Quote: In our area Khaki Campbells have the best reputation for egg laying. Calm and sweet these ducks lay 250 - 300 eggs per year which are much sought after by cooks and bakeries.

I remember cleaning out the hatcher isn't always enjoyable and this should make it easier. I'll take some pics during and...

Using Egg Cartons in the hatcher

Hi Newby here, I have seen references to having eggs hatch in an open egg carton inside the incubator instead of just laying the eggs on the wire, why is that ? I have Khaki Campbells coming along nicely in my Hovabator 1588 with auto rack turner and am planning on using my Hovabator 1602 as the...

Hova-bator not holding temp like it used to...suggestions?

We have found that a room temperature around 60 deg leads to wide temperature swings in our hovabator 1602, whereas the 1588 seems to handle it a bit better. Increasing the room temperature to 70 deg seemed to smooth the variation right out. Good idea though to get a new wafer also.

Hi all, we have a major coon problem as we have a neighbouring farm two properties away that is a commercial poultry farm. His chicken coops are massive and fortified but he throws all his culls in a pit out back and provides huge protein for the coons. Net result is we have a problem here...
