    Chickens visiting neighbors chicken

Hi there, I have 6 chickens of all different breeds. We live on a corner or a St. Rt. and a twp. rd. with about 4 acres of land for free ranging. Where do the chickens go? The neighbors, across the twp. rd. Yesterday I caught them over there eating grass. I count them and I'm like "there...

Review by '' on item 'Pullet-Shut Automatic Chicken Door Chickendoors.com'

We like to go out at night for dinner and visit with friends so this door is the answer for so many issues. I don't want to tell my friends, "I'm sorry, I have to hurry home and put my chickens away." Makes my life so much easier!

Nerve damage in my pullet's leg

Hi there, my 17 week old Buff Brahma was attacked by a neighbor's dog the other day. Ugh! Her feathers were pulled out on her whole back side. No open wounds, thank goodness. She isn't walking, her leg is limp. I took her to the vet yesterday and he said she has no feeling in her lower leg...

    Chickens in bird feeding area?

Hi there, my first 10 week old chickens absolutely will NOT stay out of my bird feeding area. I don't have a run yet, so I let them free range all day. Of course they are always in that area. So do I really have to be concerned about them contracting avian flu? Should I be afraid? Thanks in...

    Coop pictures! My very first!

My girls all lined up! Buff orphington, Golden Buff, Buff brahma, Barred rock, gold wyandotte and black australorp. We were going to use Rhino liner in the bottom of the coop but it was going to cost $250 so had to go the glassboard option.

    Coop positioning?

Wow, thank you everyone for your great responses. We already have the coop built with vinyl siding so putting an awning on them is out of the question according to hubby. The one vent is at one end of the roost but it's a ridged vent like this...

    Coop positioning?

I have been doing some reading here but not finding much and am wondering how to position my coop for the first time in the yard. I have a 12" vent that can't be closed plus a window beside it. It's the same thing on the opposite side. Do I position it east and west so the air flows through...

Ok, we made a major boo boo...

Well I'm not sure if I can line the bottom with shavings or straw and didn't know if jumping a foot down on a hard surface will cause it. I'm a newbie to raising chickens. lol

Ok, we made a major boo boo...

I bought an automatic pullet door and my husband installed it. We are almost done with the coop and I didn't think a thing of it until now. We didn't allow for the deep litter method! Ugh! The door is now too low. The door is more or less in the corner of the coop. Would I be able to build...
