My Pekins went broody and were sitting on a nest. She moved It once. Today they were all pushed out. I'm wondering if they are alive? I shinned a light on them and some the whole area is dark expect for one little bubble area. Some are really liquidy one is a chicken egg and is really dense...
Hello pekin ducks fans! So I need some opinions. I live in Indiana... And it's been crazy cold. Was -10 the other night. With at least -20-30 wind chill! Anyways, my girls have had a bath in forever!! All they have in their bucket of water they share with the chickens. They can reach their beaks...
I also gave her some eye drops and hopefully that helps a lot. In her bath she takes her foot and scratches her neck and sores so I always load those up with antibiotic ointment.
Okay thanks guys! She is doing really good tonight. She played a lot in her bath and rinsed her head a lot. She's eating on her own now. (Found out she lovessss grapes and is even trying to eat her dry food). I out some probiotics in her water. I might just alternate from dura to probiotics...
I have been giving her the 1/4 teaspoon of dura-10. And I've been rinsing her head with saline. And starting tonight I'm using antibiotic eye drops we got when I cut my eye once. My dad is a pharmasist (don't live with him though) but he said it wouldn't hurt her. I'll get her on some probiotics...
I'm sorry I know this has bee between you an Amiga but I think I'd get her on an antibiotic and also get some Veterycin spray.

Alright thanks. I do have her on a little antibiotic. I'll try to find some veterycin spray. Also might try using some prescription eye drops. I assume since...
Ok that's what I've been doing. So, as u can see. Her eye is definently infected. Yay for me. Called the avian vet and it's going to be at least 100 if I take her in. I don't know what to do.
quote name="Amiga" url="/t/742668/pekin-duck-club/2490#post_12367090"]I think that giving her time in the lukewarm water will soften them. And this is for puncture wounds, not scratches and scrapes. I cannot recall if you said she had puncture wounds.
I didn't see it happen but I am assuming...
I'm totally fine with giving her some if you guys think she needs them. I'm just not knowledgable on them and need help knowing what to give her. I'll do whatever to keep her healthy :) she's okay today. Not as active in her baths but still drinking and pooping :) her poop is green and pretty...
Yes I'm going to keep her in the bathroom. Hehe hope she doesn't start quacking! I might call a waterfowl expert but I can't afford to take a duck to the vet ;( I wish I could. I might try penicillin but I'm going to give her a few days before I just start giving her antibiotics without knowing...
Here bath is over :) sorry for the multiple post. But she seems really happy. She won't stop cleaning herself and her eye Is slightly open. She loves stretching her wings also :) I feel so bad taking her back outside into the cold after being inside in the warmth. :(
