    5 week old SLW...please help

I ordered 3 chicks this spring. My salmon favorelle is 100 percent cockerel. I'm now suspicious of my Silver laced Wyandotte. She has pretty poor lacing, but im going to be more bummed if 2 out of the 3 are males!

Just got this golden laced wyandotte, not completely sure on age, but id say 9-12 weeks. Waddles are kind of big i thought, but not sure. I heard you can tell by the feathers on wyandottes. Anyone? Would love some opinions[/IMG]

    sick of these!

My bantam use to be a fantastic layer. She than started laying eggs with a fair amount of blood in them. It was bad enough that i had stopped sharing those ones with the neighbors. Then she would lay a rubber egg intermittently. Then no eggs for days. Now i haven't found a normal egg from her in...

    Bantam Ameraucana...should I keep it?

Well I started with 3 wheaten ameraucana chicks (LF). For whatever reason 2 of those failed to thrive. I was left with one and it is starting to look like a cockerel, of course, why would it be a pullet? Anyway, along with my hatch I had a bantam ameraucana egg that made it and is doing well. I...

    blood blister on ducks bill?

Anyone ever run across this before? She was fine when I left for work. It was almost 100 degrees today, but she has a pool, and shelter with a fan (fan is not someplace she can get to, just a place that can blow down on them). So I'm guessing its trauma based. Not sure if another duck bit her...

    containing the water !

Got the concept from this site but modified it to work for dabbling ducks. The water level is about 1 1/2 inch. While the hole to drink from us another 2 inches from the water line. So when they dabble it does not splash out. The whole thing sits in another container to catch dribbles after they...

10 week old bantam pullet! breed??

Any guesses what my 10 week old bantam pullet might be? I thought maybe old English game bantam. But the OEGB thread didn't think so a few weeks ago. I know she is probably a mix but take a look.

    Saxony duck. Male or Female?

Too young to voice sex yet. But thought I could get your opinion. I heard that males at this age get a dark Burgundy or maroon chest but otherwise look the same as the females. I'm struggling with mine as in some light it looks like a buff khaki color, in other light it looks red tinted. What do...

help sexing 3 week old chicks

These are mutts that hatched 3 weeks ago. I think there are 3 pullets and one cockerel. My fiancé thinks we have 2 cockerels. Would like your opinion please! First off is a Banty, who may have some OEGB in it. I'm thinking pullet fiancé thinks cockerel.

    Changing egg position mid incubation

Has anyone switched egg positions during incubation? Would this hurt the developing embryo? Such as starting them standing upright (pointed end down) and than switching them to laying on their sides? Just curious. Thoughts?

    Shipped duck eggs

So I have been reading up as much as I can. I ordered 10+2 free duck eggs, of course the USPS was rough on them and I expected this. Two were broken on arrival, they were tossed. I candled the remainders for cracks etc. and they were ok other than some rolling air sacs. 7 air sacs were rolling...
