    Magicfly incubators

You don't have to use the turner. It will hold more eggs without it. Just remember that the metal arm that rolls the turner will still bump into eggs that are packed on that end, so just make sure to leave some space for it to move.

    Magicfly incubators

I'm not sure why you turner isn't working correctly. My guess would be that the eggs are packed in too tightly. It works great for bantams, but I usually hand turn large fowl because it just won't hold many of them. I noticed sometimes it would rotate the eggs pointy end up. Leaving them on the...

I keep the temp set on 37.5c. I don't keep a hydrometer in there anymore. Honestly I don't remember what it supposed to be...After the first year I figured out that the little cup keeps the humidity about right. I don't raise the humidity for lock down. After the first egg hatches the humidity...

    Magicfly incubators

It won't keep track of the days for you. Just take the turner out around 4 days before they are due to hatch. I use the cap off a child's cough syrup bottle for water. If you put it beside the edge on one end the turner will still be able to move normally. That is the right amount of water for...

It should have a preset temp. I would leave it there. I have hatched around 6 batches of chicks in it since I got it last March. The preset temp has been accurate. For me it has worked great. My last hatch was a little over a week ago and it has been freezing outside here. My ambient house temp...

I keep a cup for measuring children's medication in mine filled with water. It still gives the turner enough room to move around. The humidity stays around 40-45 %. I have to fill it daily but it really helps with fluctuations. When it goes on lock down and the top tray gets removed I put a...

Help! Unsure age of incubating eggs...

It's normal for the eggs to be at different stages of development if they began incubation on different days. You will need two incubators if the eggs look more than a couple days apart. Perhaps you should put the ones that look like they are going to hatch soon with the broody. My last batch...

How do you know when sneezes mean something bad?

A clear spray/drop here or there is nothing to worry about. Mucus membranes are moist. When you sneeze clear spray will come out sometimes, doesn't mean your sick. Just your body doing it's job to keep debris out.

Please Help! 4 week old chicks scared of the dark.

If they are getting some light try blocking it out. I know that might not make sense, but a lot birds will be silent if they are in *complete* darkness. Once they are use to the dark then you can let the moonlight or whatever type of artificial light they are exposed to in the coop or brooder.

How do you know when sneezes mean something bad?

I don't think their feathers are tickling their noses. :P Sometimes chickens sneeze. Just keep watching them for discharge or labored breathing. Otherwise just enjoy your new babies.

Help! Unsure age of incubating eggs...

Next time write the date on the eggs with a pencil. A hatch that is too staggered could cause problems. The hen may give up on the eggs that haven't hatched when she is ready to take the first chicks out. I would give the eggs back to the broody. Accidents happen. I dropped and cracked one from...

    Should We Close The Gap?

I would leave it open. If you live somewhere that gets cold in the winter you will probably close the windows when it gets too cold for a breeze to blow through the coop. You will want ventilation to be above the perches. If you live someplace hot you'll want as much ventilation as possible anyway.

Chicks with mama on floor - how long until they roost?

Depends on the hen. I had two broodies co-mother a batch that hatched a month ago. One of the hens quit and started laying again this week. The other is still with her chicks. Maybe if you remove the nest she will teach her chicks to perch at night, then put the box back for the other broody.

It will not hold 12 large fowl eggs if you use the automatic turner.

I only have bantams. I ordered some Cochin and silkie eggs. :D They won't be here until sometime next week. Some will go in the bator, some under a broody. I can't leave it all up to my lack of skills. ;) I'm sure she will have a better hatch rate than me. I hope all is well for you so far...

It seems that I recieced the wrong incubator. They seem identical, though. They are probably made in the same factory, just labeled for different brands.

*Update* for anyone considering a magicfly 12. It came in a box that said Janoel 12. I did find some reviews under that name. Happy Hatching!
