This was a new one for me...lol. Found an egg in the run today and went to the cameras to see who did it. What I found was pretty funny. Keep an eye on the New Hampshire Red...the egg drops off after she goes at the Speckled Sussex.
Egg was good and is in the fridge!
Anyone else have a hen that insists on coming down from the roost and going in the nest box when it's pitch black outside? It's every day from 5:30 am to 6:00 am.
The light is from the IR camera...it's pitch black inside and outside.
Does anybody else have chickens that sleep with their heads down like in the picture? You can see the Barred Rock and the Buff Orpington sleeping with their heads down. They're 12 weeks old...just thought it was funny...
You would think with all the time and effort it takes to raise baby chicks that they would at least have the decency to respect all of the hard work you put forth to keep them safe. My last BR hen has been digging the escape tunnel for them and I've been trying to dissuade her with bricks...
Caught a large hawk on camera today stalking the 2 week old chicks. The run is 10 ft. tall for size reference...this was a big boy for sure...
And leaving empty handed...

I went with wired LTS Security IP cameras (ran cat5 out to the coop when we ran electrical)...3mp w/IR, 4mm focal. They're connected into an 8TB NVR system.
In the night shots, there is no visible light..all the...
