~6 months old GENDER/breed guesses please

Yeah...that's what I thought... so.... Question: hens NEVER have pointy feathers? Is it possible, at all, for mixed breed hens to have pointy hackle and/or saddle feathers?

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

yes, those trees need a little trimming :) I have been (sadly, overly) noticing all the barking dogs lately, now that my chickies are gone...the barking in the middle of the night and during the day...I should have made a log of before, during and after....They are way louder than roosters AND...

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

You think we should call their bluff? I've thought of that too, but we don't have the time, money, or energy to deal with any of this right now. It's just not worth it. And I know many of my neighbors would back me up, they've told me so....but forcing the issue ruins it for me. As I can't live...

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

They don't enforce anything....unless someone makes a stink...they are just trying to be nice/lazy? I guess? They raised dues to cover cost because half the homeowners aren't paying! and they talk about liens, but never follow through. I am making a list of attorney questions to ask. I'm not...

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

I am assuming it was the same neighbor that doesnt like our chickies... In talking to another neighbor, he came and watched them as they replaced their windows. He told them the trim they picked was ugly and they should change it. She laughed at him and her husband had to remind her to be...

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

thanks so much....our dues are $50/year with no special assessments so far. Our main expenses are 3 street lights, a post office box and reimbursements for the board (if they send letter out), and occasionally dead tree removal. I have friends who live a few miles from us. Their dues are $75 a...

Wow, you are awesome to head that for your neighborhood. Your questions: Who is paying: about half pay on a regular basis. ~30 of the 53 households last year, I think, if I remember right from the meeting...because they never sent out the meeting minutes. When I say statements, I mean...

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

It's not simply a nuisance issue...the noise level is no where near the level the dogs around here give. It's the fear factor. Both of my no neighbors are scared of more wildlife. I think that is the main concern. The one snoopy neighbor, (besides being nosey and controling), is afraid of bears...

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

Quote: Because in an HOA, ONE person can ruin it. I have talked to 8 homeowner on my street and 1 on the perpendicular street and us (that makes 10) that are ok with us having chickens. And it took just ONE on the next street over, that complained. The HOA could potentially be sued by that...

Goodbye chickies...one snoopy neighbor and an (often defunct) HOA letter

ok, so for a petition, It doesn't use the word petition, but according to the CCRS/bylaws, in order to call special meetings, we would need 1/4 of voting members. Or the pres. OR the trustees could also call one.... BUT without knowing who can vote? How do we know if I have 1/4 of the voting...

Hey also, does anyone know. If a homeowner asks the treasurer for a list of who is paid up and who isn't...is she required to give me the information? or do people have privacy rights for that information? People have generally thought it's private information, but I'm thinking the bylaws say...
