Ornamental Layer Ladies - Which Breed Am I?

Hi all! For those of wanting to solve some mysteries this Friday, see if you can help me to identify the breeds of my new arrivals! Sexing is not necessary, as most of these will turn out to be female BUT if you see a sign of a male, let me know! Mystery 1 - I thought that this girl might be a...

    2019 Newbie Chat!

Hello newbies! I'm a second-run newbie, so technically, I don't belong here either :) I owned a small flock of 3-6 birds (a Lavender Orpington named Casper, a couple Marans, and an Americana were our longest friends) for several years when my children were young. At the time we were in the...

    Silver-Laced Wyandotte, about 5 weeks

It could be a slow developer, but as I'm hoping for a girl, this is all very good juju! I'm going to keep the post updated with pics as he/she grows and we'll find out for sure together! Based on comparisons that You've all made, I'm leaning towards girl (woo hoo!)

    Silver-Laced Wyandotte, about 5 weeks

Here's a pic of the hens and too that lay Ducky's egg, for reference. I was noting that the feathers coming in on top of Ducky's head seem to be black and white, like the hen, not light grey like the roo. ?

    Silver-Laced Wyandotte, about 5 weeks

I know that its a bit early to tell, but I thought that this would make a fun experiment! I have a mixed group with varying ages. Here is a picture of the main bird in question, "Ducky" A close up of her/his face. Ducky seems to be the Alpha at the moment, always the first to venture forth...

    Isbar thread

She is only 3 days in the picture, and she now 6 days old. So you think that she's a splash? I wasn't sure why she was so light, but that makes sense; thanks!

    Something's wrong with Clyde!

I'm sorry to report that Clyde died just a few minutes ago. I'm hurting, but I guess that there was little more that I could do. Thanks so much for your help. Hopefully anyone with this problem will have better luck with theirs, and as I read in several feeds after this started happening- don't...

    Something's wrong with Clyde!

Help! One of my buff Americana chicks, only 3 days old, seems to be having trouble swallowing this morning. There is a slight clicking sound when she tries to swallow or moves her beak, and her chirp is muffled sometimes. She can't sleep as the swallowing keeps her up, and she hasn't eaten that...

    Something's Wrong With Clyde

There is a clicking noise every time Clyde tries to swallow or opens and closes her beak. I'm getting worried, as I don't want her to grow weak from no sleep, water or food.

    Something's Wrong With Clyde

So, one of my buff Americanas has been acting like something is stuck in her throat all morning. She keeps trying to swallow and I haven't seen her do anything but this. She can't even sleep as the seemingly involuntary swallowing keeps her up. I dipped her beak in water and also offered chick...
