Thank you for your info. Yes, my girls have a coop with a roof and all. This one particular evening I didn't put them up (they free-range during the day). Wouldn't you know this is what would happen... I am definately going to make sure they are ALL roosting and tuck them in every night and lock...
All of the above! They are winter hardy, very friendly and lay nice size beautiful brown eggs. I am in NC so my girls have seen everything from snow to super hot, humid summers and they are happy and healthy...

Hey all! Glad to have found this awesome place! I have 6 hens atm; 3 Black Australorps and 3 mixies (Australorp, Americana, Polish Crested) from my friend's farm. I have had my girls for 2 years now. I live in a city that allows 12 hens per "plot" and roosters are allowed if they are quiet (LOL)...
