The more I look at Buckeye pictures I am leaning more toward her being that breed. I posted another picture of her when she was younger, before her comb started folding over.
She came from Rural King and I used to have the name of the hatchery they used that year but I don't remember what it was. Her comb does look like a single comb folded over but not quite the same shape of a regular single comb. Her coloring is closest to a cross between a Rhode Island red and...
If I hold her comb up it looks like a single come folded over. Her coloring is similar to a Rhode Island Red but her comb isn't as big as a Rhode Island Red.
This is Rachel and she's about 7 years old. I've had her since she was a day old but I have no idea what breed she is. I've researched off and on all this time but haven't found any other breeds that look like her. Can you help?
I would give her some vitamins. You can buy vitamins at feed/farm stores in tablets and you'll crush it and mix with a gallon of water. I think we need more details, like color of poo, wheezing, anything else that might help. Do you have an update you can give on her?
I think I need some ideas too. I just lost my precious Sally, a cuckoo maran yesterday. I got home to my son telling me one of my hens was missing. I went looking and found a pile of feathers next to the fence and her headless body on the other side of the fence where she was drug through...
I talk about my chickens a lot at work. I get teased about them but I get asked about them a lot too. I have a picture of them as my screensaver on my work computer and on my phone. Sometimes I wonder if my cats are jealous by the way they watch out the windows or if they're just curious about...
1. Chickens have their own cute personalities and are very smart.
2. You always want more chickens.
3. Just because my dad grew up with chickens and has some of his own doesn't mean he knows all about them. (I found out that I might know more that he does and I've only had mine since...
My chickens have a huge coop in my barn. They have a door in the side of the barn to go out to their run and a big door that opens into the barn and they can go out the barn door. This is my first year having chickens so I'm still learning and can hopefully add to the flock next spring. I have...
