Ok, I bought 10 blues from Paul Smith at 10 bucks apiece, and then had them DNA sexed. These are from his show stock. Well I ended up with 6 girls and 4 boys. The city code says I cannot have roosters so I have to get rid of the cockerels. They were hatched on 3-16-14. I am trying to get my...
It's definitely illegal to shoot at livestock on there own property, call the authorities. You don't want to get yourself in trouble......even a threat could give him ammo to use against you.
Are you sure that a hawk is the culprit? full grown RIR being carried off is kinda a big bird for a hawk, even a red tailed. Just wondering if its not a fox or coyote that is also contributing to the problem. Normally a hawk will eat where it kills or move a short distance, also they cannot...
Thanks for the reply, sorry for the confusion, but I'm keeping 2 of the females not the boys (city ordinances) but for show purposes for my son, do I want heavy lacing or not so much?
Ok so I'm trying to decide which 2 of my blues to keep for myself I was wondering if the lighter or darker colored chicks will have better color on the edges of the feathers when they mature? Also I ended up with 4 cockerels (DNA sexing), are the worth the $20 I have invested per bird when I...
Thanks for the leads on the bands, I was trying to maybe find someone who had a couple aluminum butt end bands they would be willing to sell me so I didn't have to order so many of them but I already have 20 bucks a chick invested so what's a few more dollars for quality bands, lol
I used colored zip strips for I'd purposes while they are getting DNA sexed, (i have 10 blue chicks but only want to keep 2 of the girls) but I need perminant leg bands for them to enter in the stock show
I got new chicks when y kid was 2, breed not as important as exposure while they grow up, he would hold "his" chick everyday for 10 min or so. now they are grown he can still walk up to her (everyday, sometimes against my wishes) and pick her up and carry her around the yard, she just lets her...
I was wondering where to get a couple leg bands for my new show chicks without having to ordering a minimum, I just need 2
Also what age/size should I put them on the chicks
It's the weight of the dirt pushing the air from her lungs, probably going throught her "voice box" making a sound when it is expelled. think of it as if she is saying good bye
