Hi all. This morning I noticed that my RIR started screeching loudly when she sat in the nest box. I wonder if she's in pain. She has also been a little more aggressive and doesnt leave the coop when I open the door to free range in the afternoon. Any ideas what can be wrong with her??
Roll call! As of 20 minutes ago:
Dominique--she's a little shy
Easter Egger- very active and curious
White Rock? the feathers give it away
Buff Orpington?
These last two are of the same chick--Meal Maker?
To me, it looks like one of my Delawares. Here is a photo for comparison:
A Delaware is at the bottom left of the photo. Behind her to the left is a Golden Buff (as well as at the bottom right peeking out from under the brinsea) and on her other side a Buff Orpington (another is on the...
In the store? No, I placed a phone order. Last time I got my order within 2 days but this time I tracked the order and found it was sitting @the post office about 45 min away before being delivered to my post office. I decided to pick them up rather than having to wait another day. My...
Ohh Jersey giant! I've been wanting one of those but they were unavailable for apr 9 hatch day. I forgot that they DO mature slower than the rest...makes sense. If it is a JG then that would be great. I only have layers for eggs & pets :-D
I have a white rock too! Lol here's a pic of her...I'm pretty sure she's a white rock.
White rock:
Buff orp?
Mystery chick (little wings)..maybe this is a buff o and the one above is the meal maker?
Mmmm...not sure if they're coming in white. The wings are smaller in general so that leads me to believe that it's another breed. Maybe another type of buff breed?

Why not a buff Orp? That's what she looks like to me.
I thought that at first too since a buff o was already a part of my order I figured they sent two of them but now I'm noticing the...
So my meyers chicks are 2 weeks old today and they are growing fast! I'm noticing that what looks to be my meal maker's wings are growing out differently than the rest of the flock. Any ideas of what type of breed she is? I rule out buff orpington.
I checked on them when I got home from work and both were walking around the nest box. I checked inside the next box and found that another chick hatched but looked like it suffocated :\ I still have my meyer chicks inside the washroom...they are growing fast!
That's true. I checked on then when I got home and both looked good. I gave then some water. Mother hen also was teaching her baby to eat. Here's a pic of the chicken tractor I put over the best box which is just a peck n play from murray mcmurray

Well I leave for work @ 5:30am so I don't really have a chance to check on them. I have my meyer chicks in the washroom with their brooder lamp and DH monitors the the heat. I would like to see if my broodyaccepts the meyer chicks but I would have to let the rest of the flock out of the...
I got an email on the day they hatched notifying me of the shipment with the usps tracking number. Last time I ordered from them I got a phone call about a wk before shipping/hatching/charging but nothing this time around. :idunno
