No...not a new layer. The link above has some that definitely look the same. I almost think it could be hereditary because all of them are healthy and happy. And these eggs have been showing up fairly regularly. The link has a lot of good info.
I've only had chickens for about a year and a half and I've never seen moulting. Is the picture below moulting or something else? She's been a little withdrawn and I'm hoping she's not sick.
We gloved up and checked for an egg inside but didn't feel one. I have given her some water with electrolytes and some oyster shell for calcium. Not sure if there is anything else I can do. Her feathers around her vent appear to be a little yellowed (she is white) but I wasn't sure if it was...
I'm not sure if my hen closest to the camera is sick or not. She is moving a little slower than normal, but mostly just stays still like the pic with her tail up. I hope she doesn't have a stuck egg. Any advice is appreciated.
Sorry to hear about your loss! Sounds like a raccoon to me, we had one get in our coop about 2 weeks ago and kill several. Same deal, heads gone and guts eaten. We set a trap and caught him the very next night. Lowes has a trap for 50 bucks.
