    Weak yolk wall

    I keep getting eggs with weak yolk walls. Any idea on what I can give my hens to fix this? I currently feed Purina Layena crumbles and they have access to oyster shells. the yolk frequently break during a gentle flip for over easy in the fry pan.

    Presenting the "Penalty Box"

    Based on what I have read on this site I built over the weekend a box to cure one of my hens from being broody. The below box has a built-in mini feeder and a 1/4" hardware cloth bottom, plywood sides and lid. for water I placed a chick quart sized waterer inside. I'll let you know how it works...

    Been lurking

    I made up my mind last January to start raising my own chickens for meat and eggs. It took me several months to get set up. Living just out side of the Ellensburg, WA city limits I've turned my just shy of an acre into my Ranchette. The below coop is in the end of my covered equipment shed.
