EGGIE, ME AND THE GANG
June 2007, Ed and our bike. It's a Honda Goldwing. Tons of fun. Ed calls it flying on the ground.
This is us at our first formal dance in 1968. We were high school sweeties. We lost touch with each other for more than 30 yrs. Parents thinking I was to young. Eggie...
WELCOME FROM EGGIE AND ME
aka Ed and Beth
WITHOUT anything written down on paper here we go. The reason for no drawings is I couldn't draw a straight line if my life depended on it. So with the patience of the saints, my husband and son Christian got sweet talked into joining my dream...
We have a cat problem, we hung wind chimes in the chicken yard. Our girls got used to them very quickly and the sound scares the cats. We also have 2 dogs who a fantastic with our little flock of 6, and are great at chasing off the unwanted cats. Good luck
We spent a lot of time with our gals when they were young. I started dipping my fingers in their feed when they were only a couple days old, at first they were a little shy, but once they realized "the hand" was there to offer food, they all joined in. Today, 2 yrs later our gals still go...
Congrats! Isn't it just the most exciting thing to go into the coop and discover your first egg. We had several really HUGE eggs in the beginning months that were double yokers.
Our 7 girls are 2 yrs old and have never laid eggs out in the yard. Don't know if we've been lucky or if they're just conditioned to lay in their boxes?? I was concerned at first about having to go on an egg hunt everyday, but they're great!
Our flock also of 7 all started molting at the same time and we're lucky to get 1 or 2 eggs a day. This has been going on for a few weeks now. We figure once the molting stops the eggs will start coming again.
We have the plastic/fiberglass light gray see through. We love it, provides natural light, looks nice and was inexpensive. We haven't noticed anything negative as far as wear and tear or weather issues.
Our flock of 7 have been laying for 1 yr now. 4 RIR and 3 Barred Rocks. My ? is I've noticed the texture of the eggs aren't even. Some are really smooth while others are spotted and rough. They free range for about 2 hrs a day, get plenty of fresh veggies and fruits along with pellets. What...
We give our flock of 7 fruits and veggies on a regular basis and we average 6 eggs a day. Currently they're molting and egg production has been a little off.
Our gals are now 13 months old and we put them into their coop at 6 weeks. We had a heat light until they were 8 wks and by then the weather was nice. Best of luck to you.
I want to change our flock of 7 from mash to pellets. Can I just change when I run out or do I need to gradually change them to the pellets? As always thank you for your input.
We don't currently use a poo board, butt (excuse the pun) are going to be making some changes in our coop. We currently use straw on the floor under their roost. We clean under the roosts every other week and use the poo for composting. I also dig a really deep hole and bury it also. We get...
