Well, as of today, we're at 6 hatched out of 11 eggs. The remaining 5 have no pips, and no rocking. On the day 18 candling, all 11 eggs had the same level of development. Today is day 21, so we're going to give the remaining eggs a few days to try and hatch. I'm happy with 6 if that's all we get...
Candled this morning (day 9). Out of 8 buff silkie eggs, 7 had visible veins and dark masses, some you could even see the embryo moving! 1 was clear, so its getting tossed. All 4 black/blue/splash eggs are developing, and 3 out of 4 white eggs are as well. So 2 clear out of 16 eggs, which were...
Cold weather lowered my house temp significantly, and the eggs got down to 97 degrees for several hours. I'm really hoping that they still hatch, but being small silkie eggs, and my first hatch, I'm a bit concerned. Stupid polar vortex.

Well, I've got a broody Silkie (I'm sure you're all shocked to hear that), so now we've got fertilized silkie eggs on the way from the Garry Farm, and I built a broody coop to keep inside for hatching and initial raising. Wish us luck with a winter hatch!
