    Another stopped laying ?

Back in march I got some pullets, they were just starting to lay really well and some pit bulls got in my pen and killed them all, tore up the pen, etc (grrrrr). So I grabbed two more barred rocks and a buff Orpington from the same people I got the pullets from(which I believe was the same run...

    Help Sexing RIR's?

I bought 4 pullets a few months ago, 2 RIR's and 2 Barred Rocks. So they are about 20 weeks old now. Lately I have noticed one of the RIR's to be a little aggressive and a little larger (although the RIR's seem more aggressive than the BR's). So basically, I think it is a rooster!! If so, it's...

What do you pay for your organic feed?

So what are the reasons for not feeding soy? After reading this thread I quit buying the $80 bags of mypetchicken organic feed (no of fens but that is REALLY expensive) and found a local countryside supplier. I paid $37.50/bag. The coop has double latches on everything and the hardware cloth on the bottom wrap around the corners between the pen and the coop...

Is it possible to over feed your chickens?

Ssia really but I have 4 chickens and I'm going through a 50 lb. bag of feed every month. They have a coop with a run and I let them out in the yard on weekends and sometimes for an hour or so after work. I throw any weeds in there for them to eat and they probably get a handful of treats once...

    Good Morning from NW FL

Complete noob here. Just got a house with runs and 4 chickens (two rhode island reds, two barred rocks). I bought pullets that were about 12 weeks old. They are now 16 weeks old. Can't wait to get some eggs!! I know I probably have another 1-2 months though. I have been feeding them organic...
