I keep my ducks & chicks together & at night they have access to water but only through poultry nipples. Keeps the water-mess down to "nada" inside the coop but this gives them access to water 100% of the time. I found the idea for the setup here on BYC! Love this site!!!
LOVE it!!! You and I have the exact same issue .... They won't even try to waddle their fuzzy butts into the chicken coop, so I have to go out there each night & lift them up into it. Congrats & good luck with the new Quack Shack. I've read that even if they can get in at night they are more...
Anyone else having the same "coloring" issue as me? Qwkrs & Chz look like they are turning "yellow"? They are almost 4 months old... Is this the natural part of them molting for the first time?
Hello,
I picked up 6 Bantams from TSC in late April and I'm hoping to figure out what their breeds are. I have two that are "stumping" me (being new to the whole "Chicken Mama" role and all).
My hubby (at first) was "oh good, lord ... MORE chickens!" but when he saw them he instantly claimed...
I'm so glad I found this thread! I've got my March 1st flock (6 chickens & 2 ducks) that I need to introduce to my 6 bantams that I bought as 3-day old chicks on April 24th & today I couldn't resist buying 2 Ameraucanas (2 weeks old) & 2 silver laced Wyandottes (1 month old). I'll be coming back...
Greetings from Rogers/Garfield! If you do find out about any poultry shows keep us posted on the Arkansas Swap Meets/shows/Meet Up! I, too, would love to attend one!!!
Check out Craigslist - I've seen some listings recently for silkies!
Happy to know a local NWA memeber
Keep us updated on how it goes. I have 6 new bantams from the "end of the Chicks Day from TSC" that I'll need to mix with my flock that I got from the first days of TSC Chick Days the first of March... Should be interesting!
Here's a pic of the coop/run while under construction a couple of months back. Happy that it's done but thanks to BYC I keep going back to make improvements & soon it'll be the "kid sister" to the "bigger one" I'd like to have. Again, thanks to BYC & my "initiation" to the "crazy chicken lady"...
I LOVE your coop!!!! Excellent job on the article, the work you put into getting it all put together!!! All I can say is "wow!!!, i'm supper jelly"!! You've inspired me to look into the company that manufactured yours and I plan to purchase my own building to convert into a chicken house...
I know this is an old post, but I have to say that I am beyond head over heels in love with your coop!!! I also loved your post about the "graphic" (ha ha) poop boards!!! I was hoping you could give us all an update on your coop? Has it held up over the years? Did you add anymore ventilation? Do...
Looks like you have the same problem as me. I think it's a "mild" case of "angel wing" which comes from eating to much protein (my girl, Qwakrs) doesn't have it but my boy (Chz) does & what's annoying is they were bought at the same time & raised in the same way - nothing different b/n them not...
