I am looking into getting a incubator for the first time what does everyone recommend. Still air or circulated air, egg Turner or no egg Turner. And I have a $200.00 spending limit. But of course the cheaper the better just looking for a good incubator
There is hope yet for my participation. One of my girls has decided to go broody today :) I guess with all the snow and being cooped up she has decided to make the best of it and be a mommy.
this is more along my price range for now. We are wanting to do hatching on a much larger scale but dont want to spend the money until we know what we are doing. I am addicted to hatching and very sad I don't have a broody main reason we are looking into incubating
no offence taken. right now I am not looking to spend a lot of money until I get the hang of it and would be using eggs from my own already established flock
last year was the first year we hatched and we used broodys and for beginners we had a really good hatch rate I bought 18 and had 13 hatch but only 10 survived due to new hens some not good for mama's and our second hatch was a 100% with my buff Orpington that was given to me
from what I read breed matters. For roos I will be using a pure buff orpington, a Jersey giant mix,and a blue marans mix. For the hens I will be using a game buff orpintong mix(from the last hatch I did with broodys) and red preductions(the lady I got them off of called them red rocks)
pressed reply to soon. Lol. I have a rooster that has excellent hatch rates with broodys. His previous own had good hatch rates but since I have had him i have not had one egg not hatch and he is who I plan on testing with
right now I am not to worried about hatch rate or reviews. Just looking for one that is good for begginners. I know nothing about hatching with a Bator. What is a still air incubator. I want something that is good for learning with . I
I have almost talked my husband into getting a incubator and doing hatching that way instead of waiting on a bloody. Does anyone have any advice on starter incubaters. I like how easy it is with broodys but I really want chicks now.lol
