Thanks guys! We are just some back woods farmers that likes chickens. So ameracauna or Easter eggers are good with us. We also have barred rocks, GL wyandottes, SL wyandottes and production reds. All of them are beautiful!
Thanks! I was thinking along those lines and after a little deeper research your information is correct. Also if I understand it right, the Easter egger are ameracaunas that don't fit into breed standards
Hey folks, I been away for few months but while I was away I purchased some chick from Mt. Healthy Hatchery (very pleased with them!!) I ordered 3 ameracauna pullets along with 7 others pullets. One of three is obviously ameracauna with her muffs around her cheeks, the other two doesn't not. Can...

Thank you and ill keep you in mind. My wife has lined us up on getting 3 from a lady she works with. She is having to buy 6 and her current set up cant handle that many birds. So she offered to give us 3. She ordered straight run so hopefully she will have a few pullets I can pick from. I really...
Northern Alabama here. I'm in the Athens area. Actually between Florence and Athens. Me and my wife moved back to her old homestead so our daughter could grow up on the farm. Chickens were our first addition to the farm. We have 6 production reds, 1 roo and 5 hens, and we will be adding 3...
A few of my girls have a dirty butt. They all seem to be eating, drinking and laying normal. They stay in their coop until late afternoon where they get out and free range for a couple hours before dark. No food change or anything new. I haven't seen anything new with their poop either. Any ideas?
Box fan and ice in their water, I also have put a small shallow pan with water in it(no ice) so they can stand and waddle in it. When they come out of the water pan it makes the floor a little muddy and they lay in that also.
No worries, I think I found 3 eggs from my 5 girls outside the boxes. I didnt do anything. I think it's just natural behavior to end up laying in the boxes. All 5 of my girls lay in two boxes, one box they won't touch..
Here is mine, House to my 6 birds. Going to expand very soon out the back and close in the under roof portion. I have 7 more girls coming soon!!! only spent 22 dollars on this coop and it was on the metal roof.
