    Is this normal?

Thank you chikkenfriend. I am hoping it's not bumble foot too! I think I could have caught something early.. I am going to soak their feet in Epsom salt bath for a few days and lower the roost just in case. I am a little concerned that it could be the dirt run. I clean it and add straw but...

    Is this normal?

Both feet on 3 of my 4 hens look like this. They are 6 month old. Easter eggers and a wandotte. They have a roost that's 4 in wide and 18in high. Dirt floor run with straw in their coop.

I live in Pittsboro. 2 of my 6 chicks ended up being roosters. Is anyone nearby interested in a white silkie roo? He is 4 months old. We have hand raised him from 1 week old. My children have named him Olaf. :)

I think my roosting bars are too close?

The nesting boxes have tops...like actual boxes...so no poop would drop on them.

    Hi from NC

Great....not! My husband will not be happy to hear that. He's already upset that I want to move the roosting bars. Feeling defeated....I don want to disappoint my children but maybe I should get rid of more chickens. :(

    Hi from NC

I am new to BYC and new to chickens in general. I have 6 chicks that are 3-4 months old. 2 easter eggers, 2 dark brahmas, 1 white silkie and 1 silver laced Wyandotte. The white silkie has been crowing for a few weeks and I am positive one of the brahmas is a roo too, due to his coloring and...

I think my roosting bars are too close?

So I know if the nesting boxes are under the roosting bars then poop would fall on them. Is that the reason why they aren't suppose to be under a roost. The nesting boxes do have removable tops that can be cleaned off. Is their another reason why it's not a good idea? Thank you for your...

I think my roosting bars are too close?

We have 6 chicks that are currently 3-4 months old. Thank you for the suggestions. I think I need 2 roosting bars...so I guess I need to build an external nesting box. Would this be something built onto the existing coop at the back. It seems like it wouldnt be too involved or expensive.

I think my roosting bars are too close?

I am new to BYC and chickens in general. We bought a coop from a coworker who has had chickens for years. The coop is about 3.5ft by 3.5 ft wide and 4 ft tall with 2 roosting bars and 2 nest boxes. The highest roosting bar is 2 ft high and only 5 inches from the wall. Then the next bar is...
