Can anyone tell me what breed the 2 brown baby peachicks will be?? Dad is a black sholder, I thought mom was black sholder, indian blue. Today is day 2!
So 3rd egg layed today a foot away from the 2nd. I took the first and cracked it. The halo doesn't look like a fertilized chicken egg halo, but there was a definite white spot and ring around it. I can't afford an incubator, I wish I knew someone with one.
I got my second egg today. It was a few feet away from the first.
All my boys have spurs, someone mentioned seeing that in one of my boys in the photo meaning he could be fertile. So all are fertile?
I don't have an incubotor, otherwise I would try it out. If I crack one will it have a halo...
All of my boys call like that, at the same time, I have a wake up call around 7am. One starts and they all call in unison. I love it but my daughter gets annoyed because they live right outside her window.
I for sure know they are a year old, I bought my pied boy May 23rd last year as a baby, I got my first IB girl and boy June 14 as month olds, My black shoulder white mix I got Jul 12th at 3 weeks old, and my 2 ib girls (sisters to the other two ibs from june) Sep 13th about a month old. All in...
One of my peas just layed her first egg. We have 3 girls and 3 boys in a pen. All will be a year old by late July. There isn't a chance it's fertile, right?
There is a seller close by who hopefully has a girl left, just waiting for a response. Buy I didn't realize their head could fit through the netting. I made a trip to home Depot to get some taller poles to lift the netting with. She got snagged wear the netting connects to the wall near a perch...
My 2 month old peachick died today. My daughter found her hanging from the poultry netting in there pen. It's 1 inch knotted netting. I guess her head was small enough to fit through and she got twisted in the line. Now I'm down to one female. Sad day. Her pen mate is crying for her. Poor boy.
Please help me figure out what the sex is on my two babies. I think my ibbs split white is about 7-8 weeks old. And the ib is 4-5 weeks old.
This is my little ib, I'm thinking female? Maybe? oh, it's name is cocoa peanut cause she was only a few days old when we got her and so tiny...
We had a flea problem when I got my first few peacocks this year. They left the peas alone. You can make a flea trap using a paper plate with honey spread all over it, at night shine your heat lamp onto the plate and the fleas are attracted to the heat and light. They get stuck in the honey...
I did, no reply right now. It's kind of late though. I'll try again tomorrow. I was thinking that was a lot of mixture in one pen. Like a surprise in each egg.

I found this listing for peacocks for sell on Craig's list. I did a search for where we will be vacationing next week. Maybe I can bring another baby home?
Anyway, do the adults in the listing look pied to you? Or are they split whites...
My wonderful husband drove a few hours away with me yesterday to take me to a breeder. We brought home a 3 week old black shoulder mixed with a white, and a one week old ib. They are cuddled in my lap sleeping right now.
I think she did get attacked. Since i wasn't home Saturday until very...
I'm so sad, my pretty teenage peahen died sometime last night. I had an all day Girl Scout training, so i left early this morning. My daughter went outside to check on everyone at about 10am and found her completely covered in ants and she no longer had flesh on her head. Ants sure work...
Yes, my run has a top, it's netted. It's just hard to see in the pics. Is tied up high in the tree in multiple spots to hold it up.
I'm not sure what size dog. I hadn't really though to hard about it before now. I wonder if any shelters would have a lgd. It seems like all the shelters around...
Do they chase cars? 10 years ago we had dogs that would bite at the wheels of our neighbors Simi when he drove down the driveway, needles to say they all ended in a horrible death. My girls have wanted another dog for so long, but we would need a good with kids, birds and not run off kind...
Zaz, i don't own a dog, but we live on farm land with no trees except the ones around my house. Our chickens are all free range and i no longer close the coop at night. They can eat the chickens if they show up and need a meal. There is a farm dog who roams through about 1000 acres if not more...
I finally finished building our pen for the peas! It's 400 sq ft total, for now. I can easily add on as soon as i find another good deal on chain link panels again. Until then, the babies are moved in it and out of my living room.
