Yes a white one would have to be done with vent or wait to see if it starts to talk, if it crows like the adult males than its a boy. I dont like to vent my birds. Just weird for me...
WOW.... Well we are all here for the same thing and its the love of the birds so why would you not share a pic? If its salmon color than please share it with us... Dont need to be rude about it.
Update, it did not make it... Good news is I have had 3 more hatch and that gives me 7 so far and more have pipped so more to come I hope. I really do love my all blonde/yellow chic though.. I will post pic later and thanks for all the help.
I have a new quail that has cracked the egg around 3/4 of the way and it's been like that for 8 hours now... i can still see him moving but making no progress. Should I intervene or leave alone. All my levels are great in there as I have 4 new hatched chics in there now. Please advise with any...
I got a new chic that hatched about 8 hours ago but it will only lay on his side and wiggle around. He has no ability to try to roll over onto his feet or his belly. He just wants to wiggle on his side around or sleep on his side. What should I do with him when it's time for him to come out of...
This is a pic of my first little quail from my first ever batch. So far I put 9 eggs in and 2 never took and I have 2 that have pipped so I am hoping for more.
I have 10 quail now and I would love to put in a couple egg laying hens in with them too. Is this a problem and if not what type of chicken goes well with the corturnix quail? Also remember I live in Northern Michigan so cold weather is an issue.
Thanks, Tim
The only time I ever had a time peeling the eggs was when I took them out of the ice water and the eggs had time to dry a little... very frustrating. So now I always put the eggs directly into a ice bath after boiling for 10 minutes than I leave them in the ice bath and I start peeling one at a...
I do my day 12 dandling tomorrow before I go into lock down and since this is my first time, my question is what do you guys do with your bad eggs? Do you examine them to see if they started or not or do you just trow them out?
Thanks, Tim
They say roughly 1 sq. ft per bird but so go a little less than this so you would have 40 sq. ft. total so you would be good with 40+ you would be safe with no more than 50. Hope this helps
I have the same thing but I bought some of the disposable shallow baking pans and I set a couple of them in there and they sleep on those and always lay their eggs on them. If they get to dirty I just throw them out.
Yep I had the same problem. Once he has a taste of females and now you took him away and he can see them or more than likely misses them he will be noisy. Mine went to training my bird dog.
