    Breed for these chicks?

Hi everyone! Posted this thread a week or so ago, and just wanted to send an update. Basically we got several mystery chicks from tractor supply (they never seem to know what's in their bins LOL!) a couple weeks ago. We're thinking that the grey one might be a sapphire gem chick, and that the...

    Breed for these chicks??

Hello! We just got these 4 baby chicks from Tractor Supply today, and we are unsure of what breed they are... they were in an extremely crowded bin that said it contained Isa browns, Calico Princess' and Copper marans. The lady helping us told us that they just got the shipment of chicks today...

    Silkie/Brahma mix rooster?

Just confirming that this one is a rooster. 14 1/2 weeks. It's not too red in the face but the saddle feathers look roostery. We don't have any other Silkie/Brahma mixes like it. Thanks!

    Australorp hen or rooster?

Trying to determine if this one may be a hen. We thought it was a rooster but now we are unsure. 14 weeks old. Let me know what you think... Brother, same age, is behind.

Convince me this silkie/cochin is not a roo!

We love little "Napoleon" but come on...look at those mud flaps under his beak. 6 1/2 weeks. Loves a good chest bumpin' and has thrown down with the bigger birds since week 2. We don't have any others like this one to compare. Can't have roosters here so he's history unless you all convince me...

    What breed and gender? Australorp?

So the person we got this one from said it was an EE, then said she may have given us a Blue or Black Copper Marans. Some feedback from a previous post has us thinking it's an Australorp but we really don't know for sure. Beautiful colors on the black feathers when the sun hits it...green...

    Easter Egger Roos or Pullets?

About a month ago we bought 4 EE's off of craigslist. They were hatched by someone trying out a new incubator. She had received a few blue and green fertilized eggs...that's all we know. We are 99% sure that one is a pullet, but these 3 have us scratching our heads. They are now 5 1/2 weeks so I...

chick integrating question....HELP they are coming tonight!

We currently have 6 2week old chicks. My husband is going to pick up 4 3week old chicks tonight (now who has chicken fever ???). I was wondering how to integrate them. I have read that when you get birds from somewhere else (in this case Craigslist) that you need to quarantine them, but I...

    is this "chick toy" ok?

So, I just picked up my first batch of 6 week old chicks yesterday Today my DD decided to take and empty granola bar wrapper and tape it to the inside of the brooder. It is the kind that has a silver/foil inside, Quaker I think. The chicks are FASCINATED with it. They all stand there and peck...

    New Member Introduction

Hi! I don't have any chickens yet, but a friend of mine who raises chickens is going to incubate about 20 eggs for me. My kids and I are having a great debate over how many eggs we think will hatch and of those how many will be roosters. I would love to know what you all think??? We won't be...
